At Elementum Solutions, we specialize in small to medium businesses. Whether a retail store, industrial complex, warehouse, school or office we have what it takes to make your business network fast, stable and efficient. This, in turn, makes your business more productive.
First and foremost, we need to understand YOU as a business. Who are you? What is the vision of the company and what are its goals? How will this network benefit you in reaching those goals? Once we understand your business, we can truly design a network that will enable you to reach those goals.
We will design our network architecture based our on seven main pillars of strength. The Backbone, The Wireless Infrastructure, The Domain Structure, The Computer Systems, Security, Backups and Reliable Business Communications.
First we look at the foundation of the network, the backbone. The backbone is the communications infrastructure that supports the entire network. Our job is to determine the size and speed necessary to move your data effectively. This includes everything from the copper wiring and fiber optics to switches. If wireless is required, then we will survey the site to make sure there is a consistent signal throughout the complex. We also must make sure that the network is scalable for future expansion so that additions to the network will be as low-cost and low-maintenance as possible.
Our next area of focus is on the computers, printers and other network devices that will be attached to the network. We will consider their uses, the amount of processing power needed and the amount of use that each device will need to be able to sustain. Our job is to choose the best computers and printers that will meet these demands. Future maintenance costs of each device are also taken into consideration to minimize daily operating costs.
Once it is established what equipment will be implemented, we will begin to focus on the network and domain structure designs. Here we will determine, from information previously gathered, how the domain will be structured, where the data will be stored and what type of server or servers will be needed to handle the strain of the workload.
The next matter to attend to is the internet connection. Some of the questions that we ask are:
• How many people will be using the connection?
• What kinds of traffic will be going over this connection?
• Is a static IP address necessary?
• Who will have access to the internet connection?
• What is the best internet service provider for the needs of the company?
Also, the vital area of security must be addressed. Through a combination of firewalls, antivirus and antispyware solutions, your network will be both internally and externally secure.
The last but probably the most important thing we will look at is setting up a backup plan. This can be accomplished through a few different methods. Most of our backup scenarios use a combination of in-house and external backup solutions. Please refer to our "Online Data Backups section" under "services" or call an Elementum Solutions Representative for more details.
To summarize, this briefly describes our process of creating your business network. There is much more to the overall process. However, the core of it involves developing an appreciation for your business and objectives. Only then can we develop a network that will propel your business towards its goals.
